The Public Health Data Science Master of Science program is open to all students in France and elsewhere in the world. The selection is based on a fair competitive process. Due to the limited available places and the high number of applications, the Executive Committee has to be very selective.

The Public Health Data Science Master program is open to all interested students in France and abroad. The selection is based on a fair competitive process. The students will be selected into the program based on their application documents.

Pre-requisites

Pre-requisites

  • Have already obtained a first higher education degree (at least 240 ECTS: 180 ECTS from the Bachelor + 60 ECTS from the 1st year of Master of Science) with excellence to outstanding grades and/or other study results in at least one of the following disciplines: statistics, informatics or epidemiology.
  • Having a solid knowledge of medical statistics and being able to easily manipulate big data using IT tools and programming (mostly R and Python). Knowledge of these softwares is strongly recommended and represents a prerequisite.
  • Excellent proficiency in English is required (at least a C1 level). Students whose native language is not English must provide an English certification.

First, please take a look at the check-list of the required documents and send them to our e-mail address: dph@u-bordeaux.fr

Once we receive the documentation, the screening committee will review it and let you know if your pre-application has been favorably reviewed.

The applying process is different depending on whether you are a foreign student:

  • Residing in a country that has signed the "CEF" ("Centre pour Etudes en France", Centre for Studies in France) convention: application to be completed on the Campus France website. Please check the deadlines here.
  • From a country in the EU or from a country that is not covered by the "CEF" procedure, with a foreign qualification: application to be completed on the Apoflux Platform.

  1. Application form
  2. Copy of the Graduate certificates/diploma (Bachelor's and/or Master's)*
  3. All previous transcripts (grades, names of the courses, information about the grading scale)*
  4. Syllabus of all the subjects and stydu plan/curriculum
  5. Curriculum Vitae (CV) in English
  6. Cover letter (2 pages max) in English
  7. Recent English Certificate**. The candidates must meet the required standards:
    • IELTS (Academic test): 6.0
    • TOEFL: Paper-based 550 / Computer-based 213 / Internet-based 80
    • TOEIC: 900-990
    • Or any document certifying a C1 English level upon review (University certificates...)
  8. Whenever possible (optional), one recommendation letter by an academic or a professional body (2 pages max) in English including the referee signature, presenting on institutional headed paper and bearing an institutional stamp/seal.

*If admitted to the program, a sworn translation into French of these documents will be required by the University of Bordeaux for the registration process.

**EXCEPTION: Are exempted the candidates who completed their education in Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, New Zealand or Australia, or are citizens from one of these countries ONLY.

Selection process

The selection criteria applied by the Selection Committee are:

  • the student's curriculum from his/her university education,
  • the academic transcripts and assessments obtained from the latest university degree,
  • the candidate's motivations and ability to explain the reasons for applying,
  • the professional career experience for candidates already engaged in working life,
  • the experience in digital public health (epidemiology, informatics, statistics),
  • the quality of the English writing.

The selection campaign is in two rounds:

  1. The first round is a pre-selection stage. Applications are reviewed and ranked according to the selection criteria.
  2. The Selection Committee can contact pre-selected students for a final face-to-face interview through Skype.

Results

Official Applications results

Official application results for the admission exercise are expected to be available on 19/05/2021. Applicants will be notified of the application results by e-mail once it is available. Results will NOT be released through any telephone inquiries.

  • Main list of selected applications: Selected candidates must accept or reject their admission by 21/05/2021 on the Apoflux platform. If they do not accept electronically, their place will be offered to another candidate.
  • List of rejected applications: applicants who are not selected are informed on the Apoflux platform with a notice explaining the decision.

Annual registration fees for all selected applicants are calculated according to the University of Bordeaux rules and regulations.
